The government has announced the pay award for Agenda for Change staff in England, following recommendations from the Pay Review Body. The award for 2025/26 is 3.6% across all pay grades and we understand that this is fully funded so it shouldn't impact local trust budgets.
The NHS Pay Review Body recommendations are applicable to England, Wales and Northern Ireland with each administration making their own decisions on implementation. We can expect decisions from the Northern Ireland Assembly and the Senedd shortly and will inform members as soon as we receive any information.
Pay in Scotland is determined by collective bargaining between the Scottish Government and recognised health unions and was agreed last week.
The BDA gave evidence to the Pay Review Board in February and asked for an above inflation award plus 1% to begin to address pay restoration. 3.6% is slightly above the current level of inflation and is higher that we were expecting but the pay restoration element has not been forthcoming.
More information can be found on the government website here.
Consultation on the award will be sent to all relevant members by the end of next week so please look out for the email and do your best to respond.
