Keeping up to date

We’ll share with you latest guidelines and research papers that can enhance your practice in a monthly newsletter. You could even use them for journal clubs with your colleagues!

Social

Members will be able to join an active WhatsApp group where they can discuss topics and ideas with other members. This is exclusive to specialist group members.

Knowledge

You’ll benefit from discounted access to any study days, training events and webinars. Our events will be delivered by expert speakers meaning you’ll come away with lots of extra knowledge. You can hear about any events through our newsletter.

Supporting research

We want to support members to contribute to and lead research. We can offer mentor support to members who have an idea for a project and support them with where to apply for funding.

Professional development

There are opportunities to become committee members and active involvement in the group is great CPD. We also offer a closed discussion forum for members to network and share knowledge, and aim to grow links across European networks.

Aim

The BDA Cardiovascular Specialist Group represents dietitians working in the area of cardiovascular health and disease prevention and management, recognising cardiovascular disease being a specialist area of dietetic practice. This includes – but is not limited to – dyslipidaemias, hypertension, peripheral artery disease, myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation, congenital heart disease, and heart failure.

The Cardiovascular Specialist Group works to deliver evidence-based information and support pre- and post-registration training in this specialist area. The group works to contribute to national guidelines, support member research and enhance the visibility of dietitians working in this area.

Any BDA member can become a member of the Cardiovascular Specialist Group. Members are kept up-to-date via regular newsletters and emails. Members are also encouraged to join our LinkedIn network to have the opportunity to contribute to national consultations and other ongoing projects. There is also the potential to make a more direct impact via volunteering for active committee positions. Members can also benefit from discounted rates for study days and grants to support cardiovascular research, evaluation or audit.

We welcome membership from dietetic students and are aiming to produce dedicated resources to assist students on placement. Please see our Student Membership page to find out more information on joining the Cardiovascular Specialist Group as a student.
